Hi, I’m Linzi Day
I can’t do the writing-about-myself-in-the-third-person thing. I mean, c’mon, I don’t even write the books in the third person.
Try …?
Linzi Day worked at the library after school on Wednesdays and Fridays when she was eight years old, because the local Head Children’s Librarian believed kids should be encouraged to be a part of it. The late Miss Fox ignited Linzi’s nascent love of books, and that fire has never gone out.
The idea that she might one day write books herself was inconceivable.
Authors were both clever and nice people!
But she had a collection of lovely notes from Enid Blyton, Mabel Esther Allan, and Noel Streatfeild (among others), after she wrote to tell them that their book was the Book of the Week in the local Cheshire children’s library and enclosed a copy of her review.
(I really did!) 😂
Many years later, she wrote some books of her own. This still amazes her every morning.

As I said—I can’t do third person—that took hours.
Let’s try something else instead …
What’s one thing people might not know about you?
Hmm, shall we try some truths and a lie … or whatever that game is called?
- I was a business journalist for UK and international publications
- I didn’t think Midlife, my first-ever foray into fiction, would sell because everyone said your first book is a flop
- I’ve been with my partner for twenty years
- I’m weirdly psychic
- I lived up a mountain in Portugal for several years and rebuilt a house that had been there for three hundred years
- I’ve only ever had one Bichon Frise
- I’ve been owned by five cats – one of them for twenty-three years!
- I’m semi-retired now
- I’ve been an assistant registrar and civil celebrant—i.e. I’ve married people in Gretna Green
- I’m a qualified hypnotherapist with a particular interest in past-life regression
- I worked in the Middle East
- I trained staff for a variety of multinational companies
- I lived and worked in Antwerp, Belgium.
- I studied hairdressing briefly at a college in Wales
- I drink tea and coffee
- I saw David Bowie before he was “famous” (Hardrock, Stretford) and about another eight times since. RIP 😭
OK, there are lots of truths and a lie or even two hidden in the list. Think you know which is which?
Don’t be too sure because the lie might sound more credible than the truths.
