November is National Novel Writing Month or NaNoWriMo
So during November, I shall be booked up in more ways than one. Any long-term clients will know that November-January is always a difficult time for appointments, as I’m usually full with pre-booked Celtics. And while this year that is still partially true something exciting and scary is also happening.
I’m doing NaNoWriMo myself – Aaaargh!
This has been on my goal list for about 20 years and I’ve never managed to clear the time in November to do it. Now I have!
NaNoWriMo, for anyone who doesn’t know, is a worldwide National Novel Writing Month. NaNoWriMo is a non-profit organisation that exists to promote literacy and writing around the world. Every November, hundreds of thousands of people (almost 400k people last year) all settle down to write 50,000 words of a novel or non-fiction project. I’m writing the second book in my series (or at least the first 50k words of it) during November.
I’m terrified.
If you’re not a writer, then you may not realise that 50,000 words in 30 days are HARD. 2,000 words in a day are easy – but keeping that up day after day . . . after day . . . after day . . . after . . . is mentally hard. It’s also hard on your back, wrists and fingers.
But I’m doing it!
What it means for my clients is that there will not be any cancellations available in November.
There won’t be any spare/extra/last-minute appointments.
I’m setting my phone to focus or do not disturb mode absolutely all the time that I don’t have appointments booked. So I won’t even see your texts, messages or emails unless I’m far, far ahead on my word count.
I am sorry, but this is really important to me.
If Covid-19 has taught us all one thing, I think it’s that we need to stop putting stuff off until some nebulous future date.
If you don’t have any sessions booked, then I shall reconnect with you on December 2nd.
And finally a HUGE thank you and hug to all of you who allowed me to move your appointments to clear some time for myself in November . . . See you in December when hopefully I shall be wearing a winner’s T-Shirt ?
