Wondering why it has been quiet on here? I’ve had some messages from clients that could mostly be summed up as, “Are you alright Linzi – it’s unusual for your blog to be so very quiet? In these crazy times – I’m worried.” Well, I’m really good thank you and perfectly healthy. But I do have some currently scary but potentially exciting news …. So, all of you with great instincts, gifts of your own, accurate intuitions or just a gut feeling that something was a bit different are quite correct – but you can relax. I’m writing a book!
And I’ve just been writing so much that by the end of the day writing even more on the blog has been too big a chore to face. So I haven’t – apologies.
A book?
Yep. No one is more surprised than me. But I’ve had this story nagging at me for several years and it really wanted to be told. I know you lot and am pretty sure that you’re all dying of curiosity but I don’t have very much to share yet.
Some of you may know that I do some editing and beta-reading for a few select clients? During lockdown we ended up, by accident or perhaps serendipity having a writers’ zoom call – just a little spirit lift and energy share and possibly ice cream and a few glasses of wine
And during the course of this call/party – I somehow got talked into writing a story that had been bubbling up for some years. I’d always planned to write it, possibly when I retired. Given that I come from a very long-lived family — my gran was in excellent health until her late nineties I didn’t feel any particular need to rush into it.
But like so many of you if Covid has taught me anything other than how to wash my hands properly, it is not to put off the things I want to do until some nebulous future day.
So when will it be published?
Absolutely no idea! It isn’t even properly titled or written yet – but I’ll keep you all informed.
Any clues about content?
Well … maybe. The quick book blurb will probably look nothing like this – once the editor has finished with it – but for now, this might give you some clues.
Facing her 42nd birthday alone, recently widowed Niki McNight’s world is turned upside down when she inherits her grandmother’s estate in Scotland – it includes a gateway to seven Celtic kingdoms and a lifetime job as the Recorder, who has to keep the peace, maintain order and prevent them all from causing chaos in our own world. Happily along with the estate come her gran’s considerable powers – the only problem is that Niki doesn’t know how to use them yet …
So does this affect your current clients?
It really shouldn’t, I have been cutting my hours down for several years. Perhaps the only significant change is that I’m not going to be taking bookings years ahead for Celtics and Astroclocks but other than that I’m still working. As many of you know if I don’t use my own gift I get horrific headaches – so I’m certainly not retiring yet – just fitting something else in alongside my other commitments to you all.
In fact, I think there are even a few free slots on my calendar over the next couple of months so definitely no problems getting to talk to me at the moment.
Anyway, I think that’s all for now – so happy summer wishes to you and all, and if you’re not, as I am ☹ on a post-lockdown diet then — Enjoy the ice cream in the sun. And if you are on a diet I cannot recommend sugar-free ginger cordial with icy cold soda water highly enough – it is the most refreshing thing that I’ve found in this heat!
There probably won’t be another blog post until autumn – but I am truly good so please stop worrying ♥❤?
